The Christoph Liebers GmbH & Co.KG, Tools and Sinkers, was founded in 1972 in its actual form, however we can look back to a family tradition of more than 120 years.
Already in 1876 came into being one of the worldwide first sinkers producing companies in Kändler/Saxony, which was founded by Ernst Liebers. In the beginning mainly the German socks- and stocking industry in the area of Chemnitz/Saxony, at that times the center of the German knitting- and cottonmachine industry, was provided with knitting elements.
With the continuous opening of the world markets the mainly regional customer relations changed, so that already between the two world wars the company could export nearly to all the knitting centers all over the world.
After the second world war Paul Ernst Liebers, who meanwhile produced sinkers in the third generation, moved via Malmö/Sweden and Stuttgart to Ingolstadt. The company Liebers & Co. was again present on all world markets and the name Liebers was always well-known for highest quality and precision, as well as best customer service.
In 1971 the merger with the company Hugo Kern to the today’s company Hugo Kern und Liebers GmbH & Co.KG was pushed ahead against the emphasized intention of the Liebers family and so the desire to found a new and 100 % family-owned business arose soon. Supported by his wife and many of his former employees, who did nearly all decline the relocation of the production from Ingolstadt to Schramberg, Christoph Liebers founded the new company Christoph Liebers GmbH & Co.KG in 1972. The sinkers production however could only be started in 1975.
The continuity of the family tradition is furthermore assured, as in the meantime the fifth generation, represented by Thomas Liebers, his sister Ulrike Starke (née Liebers) and her husband Michael Starke, who are working active in the management.
Today we take care of customers and agents in more than 70 countries all over the world and from Gaimersheim near Ingolstadt we provide them with about 11.000 different types of knitting elements.
